Der Zuger Johann Conrad/Konrad Bossard (18.01.1802–29.07.1859) vertrat die Interessen des Sonderbunds und sass 1847 in dessen Kriegsrat. Er war bis zuletzt auf einen Ausgleich mit den Liberalen bedacht. Nach dem Sonderbundskrieg und der Niederlage des Sonderbunds verlor Bossard seine Ämter. Er wurde aber schon 1848 von der Gemeinde Menzingen in den neuen Grossen Rat gewählt. Später wurde er Regierungsrat (1850–1859), Landammann (1850–1852, 1854–1856 und 1858–1859), Statthalter (1852–1854, 1856–1858) und Nationalrat (1853–1859).
