Gemälde, Selbstporträt Johann Kaspar Moos (1774–1835)

Auf dem hochovalen Brustporträt im Dreiviertelprofil nach rechts schauend ist Johann Kaspar Moos (21.04.1774–21.08.1835) im Selbstporträt abgebildet. Der Porträtierte ist dargestellt mit weisser Weste, weissem Halstuch und einem dunkelgrünen Kittel mit Goldknöpfen sowie Ohrringen. Auf der Rückseite steht die Inschrift «Aetatis 32» («im 32. Lebensalter»).

Der Zuger Maler Johann Kaspar Moos/Muos (21.04.1774–21.08.1835) bildete sich in Turin aus und kehrte 1795 nach Zug zurück. Er war unter anderem Lehrer des Kirchen- und Historienmalers Melchior Paul von Deschwanden (10.01.1811–25.02.1881) aus Stans sowie des Malers Jakob Dominik Späni (01.08.1811–07.05.1896) aus Arth. Johann Kaspar Moos/Muos fertigte eine grosse Anzahl an Gemälden für Kirchen und Kapellen in Zug und Umgebung an, unter anderem das Hauptdeckengemälde in der Pfarrkirche Neuheim (Himmelfahrt Mariens) sowie das Hochaltarblatt in der Verenakapelle am Zugerberg.
