Toy miniature town of Zug

Toy town consisting of painted wooden buildings representing the town of Zug in miniature. The multipart set is in a round chipwood box with the name “Mrs. Dr. Arnold-Müller Zug” written on it.

The toy miniature town belonged to Emilie Arnold-Müller (1849–1916) from Muri in Canton Aargau and was used at the Villa Flora at 4 Zugerbergstrasse in Zug. Designed by the architect Johann Landis (dates of birth and death unknown) in 1895, the villa was built for Dr. med. Karl Arnold (dates of birth and death unknown). Dr. Arnold was Emilie Arnold-Müller’s husband. He was chief medical officer in Zug and a founder and inaugural president of the Nature Conservation Committee of Canton Zug, which was established on 28/08/1907 in the Rosenberg Restaurant in Zug (see Zuger Neujahrsblatt 1933, pp. 35–44: “25 Jahre Naturschutzkommission des Kantons Zug 1907–1932”). From 1887 to 1904, Arnold was on the board of the Gemeinnützige Gesellschaft Zug.
