Pencil sketch of a drier hood for home use

The piece of paper shows three pencil sketches of the same drier hood in various positions (folded with hood in upright position, folded with hood facing downwards, extended with hood facing downwards). The writing in the bottom left corner reads “hood / home use” and the bottom right corner has the number “4”. The date “1994” is written at the bottom on the back.

The sketch was probably commissioned by the company Gimelli u. Co. AG.

The company M & E Design was founded in 1967 by Ernest Muchenberger (born in 1934) and Walter Eichenberger (born in 1936) in Cham. In 1969, the designers managed to gain a foothold in the highly competitive Swiss industrial design market thanks to a commission to design a range of cookware from the Metallwarenfabrik Zug metalworks. Commissions from other companies followed, including Landis & Gyr, V-Zug, Habimat, Jura, Elektrolux, Franke, Schneider Spiegelschränke, Kellenberger Werkzeugbau, Stöckli Stapler, Ivoclar Dentalmedizin, Migros as well as Lenco AG. Various objects designed by the company M & E Design were shown in the temporary exhibition “Easy! Easy? Schweizer Industriedesign – das Büro M&E” (Easy! Easy? Swiss industrial design – the company M&E”), which ran from 17th April 2011 to 15th January 2012 at the Museum Burg Zug. The exhibition catalogue is still available to buy at the reception desk.
